SawasdiKha! (Hello)
The Thai Yoga Massage & Bodywork Program presently consists of 4 workshops, each awarding two certificates. One certificate of 15 massage CEs and one certificate for 1 Ethics CE. The workshops are two fun and very full days of learning, hands on practice, lecture and question time. There is also an optional Table Thai workshop you can take and will give 8 CE hours.. Once all of the workshops are complete, students will have 60 CE hours of focused and intense hands on practice for insightful knowledge and experience as well as 4 ethics CEs, and 30 hours of documented practice time outside of the workshops. All of the workshops begin each day with 30 minutes of stretching poses and sequences followed by a 30 minute lecture and demos then we will begin 2/90 minute bodywork sessions of demonstration and practice then we will have a 1 hour lunch break followed by 2 more 90 minute bodywork sessions and ending our day with 30 minutes of review/demos and answering questions for clarification of everything we have covered over the course of the day. The workshops are geared towards teaching you a full body massage and as we work to complete each massage you will have opportunities to learn about smooth transitioning, sequencing, pressure, joint support and proper positioning for proper body mechanics for you and your recipient's for comfort. Range of motion of limbs and body, pain tolerance and signs of discomfort. As well as awareness of recipients tissue condition, stretching limits, your focus and mindfulness, Thai energy pathways, condition of muscle/soft tissue and the importance of hydration and electrolytes and contraindications for Thai yoga massage. Unlike Swedish massage or other forms of bodywork, Thai yoga massage and bodywork does not solely focus on one area only to leave the rest of the body untouched. To work and to be a Thai massage bodyworker one must work the entire body to help bring balance to it's energies and soft tissues so that the entire body can maintain or achieve a healthier state that will better allow for it to heal itself and allow for better natural structural alignment by lengthening and relaxing tight muscles. Thai massage bodywork also addresses and supports the body's energy pathways and supports a healthy state of emotional, mental and physical balance as well as grounding your recipient. When I was in school in Thailand we were regularly told to "Trust the Process". Ethics for Thai massage will also be an important part of our learning and discussions as this is a close body contact style of bodywork. As you move through the workshops you will gain more insight and learn new positions, stretches, techniques, applications and information. Once you have completed the "Foundations of Thai" and at least one of the Intermediate workshops, you will have enough material to complete 2 1/2 hour+ sessions with your recipients. My style of teaching is hands on with more emphasis towards natural learning through doing and experiencing to allow you to have a firm starting foundation. All of my workshops are taught this way and during our hours together we will be practicing and learning the art of Thai massage bodywork by giving and receiving multiple, full body massages. The workshops will always be informative and will challenge your individual creativity, style and focuses. *Please look at my other pages "Meet Selina" and "History of Thai Massage" as these pages may answer some of your questions also. ~I also travel to teach Thai for large groups of students~ What to bring to Workshops:
