I have many people who refer me and my business and as much as I would love to show my clients and patients my appreciation for referrals by giving them coupons, discounts or massages, I can not because it is illegal in the state of Washington. In some ways it seems crazy but it true.
For many years massage therapists have fought long and hard for massage therapy to be seen as a viable medical procedure
and for massage therapists to be seen as healthcare providers. So it is now and has been illegal for many years now for massage therapists to offer any referral rewards. Here is link to an archived article from Massage World that talks about it.
